Making TV Exciting Again

By Chuck Dalton

You might sometimes find that you are bored with your current television and movie options. This can happen for a variety of reasons. For example, it may be summertime and there is less to watch, or perhaps your favorite shows have been canceled. Or maybe you simply can't find shows that you like. In the old days of television where large markets had maybe five or six television channels, it was understandable that you might not have enough programs to watch. However those days are long gone.

Options like the Dish Network, DVDs and of course, Blu-ray means that you have an abundance of choices. Finding those choices may be as simple as expanding your viewing horizons.

If you want to start watching some new exciting shows, try asking your friends. People generally share similar tastes with their friends, and you might just find that they have some great recommendations for you. One great thing about discovering a new show that is a few seasons old is that you can also entertain yourself with the old episodes on DVD between new shows each week. This is a great way to catch up on the show as well as to stay entertained.

DVRs have made exploring what television now has to offer quite easy as well. By simply spending a few moments searching through your DVR's menu you can easily find new shows. By trying several you will likely find at least a couple of new shows that you enjoy. Best of all, if you have a DVR this process is really quite easy. So go ahead and record something new!

Finally, don't be afraid to branch out. It is easy to get stuck watching the same kind of programs again and again. If you always watch crime dramas, make a change and try a comedy. There are many different types of shows out there, and you won't know what you like until you try something new. You will be surprised at how quickly you can bring new life to your TV viewing experience.
