The nano has once again been overhauled, apple has desided to go back to the drawing board and give us something completely different from the ipod nano we have become accustomed to. The made its debut appearance back in the summer of 2005. The iPod nano has been rebuilt as a multitouch screen device, no bigger than a postage stamp. The next gen device has been built on a cut down version of iOS. The user interface has taken on the classic iphone and ipad look and feel.
The nano has always been simple to use, now that apple have removed some of the original features it have become even simpler. Not necessarily a good thing if you ask me. Apple has created an even bigger gap between the Apple iPod Touch and nano with the removal off the camera and video playback.
The new interface offers a much more rich experience and is way more intuitive than the classic iPod. You have the same playback and sorting options as before, the new touch screen, multitouch screen allows you to effortlessly find just what you are after without years off scrolling as our music collections are getting bigger by the day. The new GUI looks and feels just like iOS, built from different tried and tested components from years of OS X development. So we know we're getting something quality straight off the bat.
With brilliant results - the nano feels just like iOS in all the ways that count. The micro springboard offers a similar experience to iOS however not exactly the same. Moving icons around to customise your display is available in jiggly mode as Apple likes to call it. Return back to your home screen by just pressing down on the centre of the screen. Swipe right to go to previous menu's.
Ok, so what about the sound quality.
In my opinion if I had an iPod nano from a previous generation, I would probably stick with it. I'm not sure the vast amount of Apple customers want functionality taken away. It's always much harder to take something away than give it. I really thought Apple would be giving us more, rather than taking away. The nano isn't the cheapest device on the market if your looking for a functionally sound mp3 music device. More capacity will come in the future, that's only natural. Pricing dropping wouldn't go astray either.
