Rapping Battles : A Beginner's Guide

By Mark Walters

If you want rap battle tips, then continue reading. You will learn some rapping battle tips to win freestyle rap battles.

Secret #1: Use The Power Eye Technique

In your next rapping battle, use the power eye technique. Basically, you should focus your look on the space between your opponent's eyebrows. This is a powerful way to keep staring down the other rapper without feeling uncomfortable as a result of extended eye contact.

Your opponent will feel as if you are looking straight into him. The true case is that you're staring at the space between his eyebrows. This makes it much easier to keep staring down at your opponent. Eventually, your opponent will feel intimidated, weak, and will assume that you must be a good rapper if you're so confident.

Secret #2: Practice Rap Battling Online

I highly recommend you to visit online voice chat rooms to practice freestyle battling with other people. This is an ideal way to practice your skills because the pressure is off and it is no big deal if you lose because there is no audience.

There are plenty of free online chatrooms with the ability to use your microphone to freestyle. Just look for a room that attracts other rappers. Once you find one, start battling and challenging the users to come and battle against you

Secret #3: Pick A Flaw In Your Opponent And Exaggerate It

A common way to win rap battles is to find your opponents flaw and then exaggerate it. For example, if your opponent dresses badly, rap about how his mom still dresses him. Basically, find something that your opponent can be embarrassed about and then deepen it.

Don't worry about whether it is actually true or not. Remember that you're involved in a competition, and that it is simply survival of the fittest; however, many times, your exaggerations can really be the truth and you can tell by your opponents face. If your shows any weakness in response to something in particular that you're rapping about, you want to keep rapping about that flaw and deepen it more in the rapping battle.
